Art allows me to visualize the collective vulnerability of my emotions through blends of color, using natural elements and surreal qualities in my work. I’m inspired by art as a form of therapy, driven by the belief that colors and imagery can impact people’s mindsets, using art as a tool to lift spirits during low moments. I am a Chicano Park muralist, and my mural work has been featured in several public locations, including Chula Vista’s Third Avenue La Bella Pizza Garden restaurant and the Secret Stairs of Valencia Park in San Diego. I’ve also been contracted by several businesses and residential properties. I’m versatile with the mural process, working with different forms of installable murals and have proficiency in polytab murals—movable fabric murals that can be used in community-based projects. I’ve worked on multiple community art installations and curated art exhibitions for local San Diego artists. These experiences gave me the opportunity to think beyond my own art and find ways to turn collective art forms into a visual narrative that offers an engaging experience. I love the bond that comes from collaborating with other local artists, organizations, businesses, and community members to create works of art that bring color and strength to the surrounding communities.
